Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Bucks & Montgomery County
If pain in your back, knee, shoulder, or ankle is keeping you from your normal routine, orthopedic physical therapy is often the fastest, safest way back. At CORE 3 Physical Therapy, our approach centers on one idea: you deserve a real plan built around your body, not a generic protocol handed to every patient who walks through the door.
We’re a privately owned orthopedic PT clinic with five locations across Bucks and Montgomery County. That independence matters. It means our therapists set the treatment plan, and it means you get real one-on-one time with a clinician who knows your history and your goals.
What Is Orthopedic Physical Therapy?
Orthopedic physical therapy focuses on the muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones that let you move. When one of those structures is injured, overworked, recovering from surgery, or wearing down with age, it changes the way your whole body moves, often causing pain in places you wouldn’t expect.
An orthopedic physical therapist evaluates how you move, identifies what’s actually driving your pain, and builds a hands-on treatment plan to restore strength, mobility, and function. It’s not just about calming a symptom. It’s about correcting why that symptom showed up in the first place, so it doesn’t keep coming back.
Conditions We Treat at CORE 3 Orthopedic PT
Our therapists work with patients of all ages, from weekend athletes to retirees, on a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including:
- Back and neck pain, disc injuries, sciatica, and cervical dysfunction
- Headaches related to neck and postural issues
- Sports injuries physical therapy for athletes at every level
- Joint replacement and post-surgical recovery, including ACL rehab
- Hand therapy
- Joint pain in the knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle
- Sprains and strains
- Tendinopathies, including rotator cuff, Achilles, and patellar tendon issues
- Fracture rehabilitation
- Arthritis
Wherever you’re starting from, the goal is the same: get you back to the activities, sport, or simply the daily routine you’re missing.
What Makes CORE 3's Approach Different
A lot of clinics offer heat, ice, or electrical stimulation. We use those tools too, but only as support for the real work, not as the treatment itself. Your plan centers on hands-on manual therapy paired with a personalized exercise program built for your specific injury, your body, and your goals.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Advanced Certifications on Staff
Including the McKenzie Method (MDT) for spine conditions, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) status, and training as a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). That training shapes every evaluation and every session.
Direct Access Certified
You can start treatment without a physician's referral. In Pennsylvania, a referral is only required if you continue treatment beyond 30 days, so most patients get moving right away without waiting on a doctor's appointment first.
Because we’re privately owned rather than part of a large regional chain, our therapists aren’t stretched across three patients an hour. You get focused, one-on-one time at every visit, with the same clinician tracking your progress from start to finish.
What to Expect at Your First Visit at CORE 3
Your first visit starts with a conversation. Your therapist will ask about your injury, your daily activities, your sport or work demands, and what you’re hoping to get back to. From there, they’ll walk you through a movement assessment to see how your body is compensating and where the real problem is coming from.
You’ll leave that first visit with a treatment plan built specifically for you, along with a clear sense of what to expect over the coming weeks. Because we’re Direct Access Certified, you can book that first visit directly with us. No referral, no waiting on a doctor’s office to call you back.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is orthopedic physical therapy?
Orthopedic physical therapy treats injuries and conditions affecting your muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones. At CORE 3, that means a hands-on evaluation, manual therapy, and a personalized exercise program built to address the root cause of your pain, not just the symptom.
Is physical therapy the same as seeing an orthopedic specialist?
Not quite. An orthopedic specialist (often a surgeon) typically diagnoses conditions, orders imaging, and determines whether surgery is needed. Orthopedic physical therapy is the hands-on rehabilitation side of care, whether you’re avoiding surgery altogether, recovering from a procedure, or managing an ongoing condition. Many of our patients come to us first through Direct Access, and we’ll always let you know if something looks like it needs a physician’s evaluation.
What are the stages of recovery for a sports injury?
Most sports injuries move through a few general stages: calming down pain and swelling, restoring range of motion, rebuilding strength, and finally retraining the movement patterns needed to return to your sport safely. Your CORE 3 therapist will build your program around where you currently are in that process and adjust it as you progress.
Do I need a doctor's referral to start orthopedic physical therapy?
No. CORE 3 therapists are Direct Access Certified, so you can schedule your first visit without a referral. Pennsylvania law only requires a physician’s referral if your treatment continues past 30 days, so most patients start care with us right away.
