What’s Involved in the Pelvic Floor Exam?

All pelvic floor exams are conducted in a private treatment room by a physical therapist licensed to perform internal pelvic exams. Our goal is to perform thorough and comprehensive exams in the least invasive manner possible. What’s involved in the pelvic floor exam will depend on both your symptoms and your comfort level. The internal pelvic exam is not the same as the exam that women usually experience during a gynecological visit, as our primary focus is muscle strength and integrity.

What Should I Bring to My First Appointment?

Please bring your completed intake forms, a photo ID, your insurance information, a list of your medications, and your physician’s referral if it was provided to you. Also, bring any imaging reports that have been completed for you, such as EMG, MRIs, and X-rays. Click here for information on what to expect during your initial appointment.
